Narrative
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe.. The " Day of the Jackal" novel was set in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on the then-President of France Charles de Gaulle.
The show moves the setting to the current era
Referenced in Graham Norton likes: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). This would have been an outstanding cat-and-mouse chase if the female lead would have been anyone else, literally anyone else. The way she portrays the detective, makes the viewer, at least this one, to not want to root for her.
She comes off as conniving, cold, know-it-all, selfish woman
Yes, she is with the police, and what she does is right, but how she does it, its awful! I do not like her, nor do I care for her.Because of this, I feel like a lot of us that are watching the show will root for the Jackal. He is all that she is not, even though he is a killer.
And i know he’s not the only one
I don't want her to succeed in her mission and I don't want the Jackal to be caught. I don't think this is the way it should be, but its the way I feel. By the looks of it, she does get close to him.
And its a shame, because he is Amazing in this!
Unfortunately, if she succeeds, it will make me want to stop watching this show.
